Universal Studios®
Universal Studios® is one of the most popular attractions in Orlando. This amusement park is fun for all ages, with rides and attractions like you have never seen before. The attractions in Universal Studios® are more interactive than anything you have probably ever experienced, with many simulating actual events, shows, and movies, often in 3 or 4 dimensional quality. See one of your favorite classic movies as though you are actually in the show, or hang on tight with your child’s favorite cartoon character ride. Enjoy a variety of shows, as well.
Islands of Adventure®
Islands of Adventure® is located in Orlando, Florida, and is the sister amusement park next to Universal Studios®. For thrill seekers, this is the place to be! Jump on some of the fastest roller coasters, or get splashed in the many water rides. Visit Jurassic Park™, one of the many themed sections of the park, where you can watch a baby ”dinosaur” hatch or take a ride on a Pterodactyl. Kids will love Seuss-Ville, a part of the park dedicated to Dr. Seuss and all his magical beings. Stroll through Toon Lagoon and check out all your favorite cartoon characters. Islands of Adventure® is a great place for kids, even the youngest ones.
SeaWorld®
Sea World® is found in downtown Orlando and is a great vacation destination for the family. Check out the shark encounters as you go through a tunnel that is an amazing 60 feet long - getting as close as you will probably ever safely be to sharks! Many exhibits are found throughout Sea World®, such as polar bears, walruses, and of course, Shamu. The kids will love all the fish and water animals that they get to see and experience close up. Also enjoy the many varieties of shows, as well as amusement park rides, and you’ll have a vacation to remember!
Walt Disney World Resort®
Disney World® is found outside Orlando, about 30 miles south, yet it still is known as one of Orlando’s biggest attractions. You will definitely need to plan for a trip to Disney, as there are 2 water parks and 4 different theme parks to visit. There is also Downtown Disney, as well as the Boardwalk to meander through. The rides, attractions, meet and greets with the characters, parades, and fireworks are just the tip of the iceberg when you visit Disney. Many of the resorts offer other activities such as golf, tennis, water sports, and spas.
Museum Of Modern Art
A great place to spend an educational day in Orlando is at the Orlando Museum of Modern Art. Here you will find a wide variety of exhibits, collections, artifacts, paintings, drawings, and more. Check out the American Art Collection and browse thru prints, sculptures, paintings, and more that date back to the 18th century. You can also browse through pieces in the Art of the Ancient Americas, with artwork from as early as 2000 B.C. There are also many temporary exhibits to be found all year round, so it is best to check out the website to see what is in store.
Orlando Science Center
Another great place to visit while in Orlando is the Science Center. There are many permanent features in the museum, such as a scanning electron microscope. You can even experience a hands-on experiment of mixing chemicals, alongside a trained instructor. There is a fun area set aside specifically for the kids in the group, where young children will learn all about science through playing. You an also check out the galaxies and planets in the Crosby Observatory.
Gatorland®
The state of Florida is well known for the large number of alligators found there. At Gatorland®, you can take the opportunity to see these animals up close and personal. Check out the thousands of alligators, as well as crocodiles found in the park. You’ll see rarer breeds, such as the Cuban and Nile crocodiles. You can also enjoy the breeding marsh area of the park, where there are 100 adult alligators. In addition to the alligators, Gatorland® offers their own Snakes of Florida exhibit, the Very Merry Aviary, and Allies Barnyard, a petting zoo.
Kennedy Space Center™
If you are taking a trip and staying at any of the resorts in Orlando, Florida, you may get lucky enough to see a space shuttle launch. While Kennedy Space Center™ is not actually in Orlando, it is a very easy 45 minute drive down the coast. You can check the NASA and the Kennedy Space Center™ websites for news on their latest launch and head down to get the best view possible. You can also spend the day at the Space Center, and view real space shuttles and learn all about space travel firsthand.
Wet n' Wild®
Everyone knows that Florida is hot and humid, so cool off at Wet n’ Wild®, a water park located on the famous International Drive. Take the plunge down a multitude of huge slides to cool off on those hot days. One price gets you admission for the rest of the year, so it is definitely worth it to go. You may also like Aquatica, run by Sea World®, where you can even swim next to the Dolphins. Aquatica is located right next to Sea World®.
WonderWorks
WonderWorks is an interactive amusement park that offers its visitors more than 100 exhibits that appeal to all ages. You can experience what a 5.3 earthquake actually feels like, or what it’s like to be in a 65 mile per hour hurricane. Fly on a fighter jet, land your own shuttle, or play a virtual sport like the pros. You’ll never run out of fun and interesting things to do when you visit WonderWorks in Orlando, Florida.
